  • Are Stun Guns and Tasers Legal in NY - here's the answer!

    TRIGGER-BLUE_a 39061_e

We are often asked if stun guns or tasers are legal in the state of New York.

The answer is YES!  On March 22/2019, a federal judge struck down the state's ban on stun guns and tasers as unconstitutional and issued an injunction against enforcement of the previous ban. Scroll to the bottom of this post for links to the ruling .

Here are some examples of the stun guns and tasers ship to the state of New York:

    • stun batons - many look like flashlights

    • TASER brand products and accessories

The ruling is available here, but the "meat and potatoes of the ruling are in the last two paragraphs:

    Therefore, it is ORDERED that

    1. Plaintiff's motion for summary judgment is GRANTED;

    2. Defendant's cross-motion for summary judgment is DENIED;

    3. New York Penal Law § 265.01(1), as applied to "electronic dart guns" and "electronic stun guns," is an unconstitutional restriction on the right to bear arms; and

    4. Defendant, his officers, agents, servants, employees, and all persons in active concert or participation with the New York State Police are hereby ENJOINED from enforcing New York Penal Law § 265.01(1) as applied to "electronic dart guns" and "electronic stun guns."

  • Howard County Maryland lifts ban on tasers and stun guns!

Hooray for the voices of sanity!

According to Fox45 News in Baltimore, Howard County voted 4-1 on February 21st to remove the ban on the sale of stun guns and tasers.

Howard County resident Elizabeth Baran is suing Baltimore City and Baltimore County, which both have bans on the ownership of stun guns and tasers.  The lawsuit also names Howard County.

Elizabeth Baran is a domestic violence survivor who argued that "tasers are essential for self-defense".  As a result of the ruling,  she now has a "non-lethal option" to protect herself.

Let's hope that Baltimore City and Baltimore County follow Howard County's lead.

Thugbusters gives her a standing ovation and a huge BRAVO!!  We are on a crusade to help keep people safe with non-lethal safety products. We have known domestic violence survivors, sexual assault victims. and women who were afraid to walk to their cars at night - nurses, retail workers, college students, real estate agents, servers and more.

While we have approximately 500 safety products on our web site, we focus on stun guns and tasers for women. We exhibit at women's shows, guns shows, and prepper shows in Ohio. Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, Alabama, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina and Louisiana.

  • Neighbors shook up by home invasion

SIOUX FALLS - According to police several armed intruders wearing face masks broke into this Sioux Falls home.
The people living inside barricaded themselves in their bedroom and told the intruders they had called the police.
After several of the masked men fled, the residents came out of the bedroom and fought off two of the armed men who were still inside their home.
One of the suspects was stabbed and dragged outside.
The residents then locked themselves back inside their apartment and waited for police.
Neighbors are coping with this situation.
The scene is right across the street from a busy shopping center and near the Sioux Empire Mall.
It doesn't seem like a crime happened here until someone looks a little closer.
Crime scene tape blocked off the apartment, while several police cars sat in the parking lot most of the day.
Families who live near the incident say they are a little shook up.

"It's pretty scary to think about that potential that could have been me,” Annie Hartgraves said.

Many of them could hear the home invasion as it occurred from their own apartments.

"Big ruckus; just a lot of noise. A bunch of voices howling, yelling,” Jeff Raider explained. He said his wife heard the whole thing.

While having something like this happen so close to home is shocking, many say they could see something like this coming because of criminal activity already taking place at the building.

“You know there’s people who will knock on the door at two in the morning. They’ll go in, two minutes later they're out. So it just makes me very suspicious,” Hartgraves elaborated.

And they have their own theories on what could have happened.

“Maybe it was something in dealing with drugs and just bad deal went wrong,” Hartgraves theorized.

A neighbor who wished to remain off camera told me she is thinking about installing a security system in light of this incident.
Another says now, he can't wait to move.

“We're a few days from leaving so we might just bump that up a couple days. My wife's pretty stressed out,” Raider said.

The neighbors still have questions and they hope they can get answers to those soon

  • Memorial day reflection and sale

First, I grew up as a Navy brat during the Vietnam era, when the military wasn't too popular. Thank you to all who serve, have served, and their families.

I'm having a little sale for Memorial Day Weekend.  Little because there are only 4 products on Sale.

We have 2 Taser ,models, a stun gun and a stun baton on sale. The sale prices are really good.

The sale will end Monday, May 25, at Midnight, Eastern time.

To see the sale prices and the items on sale, click here.

I want this to be a fun weekend for you...just not too much fun!  Be careful out there.  There will be some crazies.   Make sure you're not one of them.

Try to take a moment this weekend to remember the purpose of this holiday -- to remember those who've given their lives for this country.

Wars are created by governments but fought by ordinary citizens.  These warriors go where they're told to go and fight when they're told to fight. Some come home, some do not.  Either way, they did their duty.  Nothing more could be asked of any man or woman than they did their duty.

Whether we should be in Afghanistan or Iraq is a debate that should be taken up with your elected officials.  If you don't like the war, make sure your government knows about it.  But, do not include the airmen, sailors, soldiers and Marines who are just doing their duty, in your criticism of the war.

I have a favorite commercial put out a few years ago by Anheuser-Busch (beer companies make the best commercials).

For all those who've lost someone to a war, I salute you and them.  I know we all look forward to the day when greed, religious fanaticism and pride are not reasons to send our young men and women to war.  But, until that day comes, we will stand united in our support for all those who risk their lives and limbs just doing their duty.

God bless and have a fun and safe weekend.

  • Man jailed for unlawful restraint, domestic violence

If you're a victim of domestic abuse, pick up one of Thugbuster's  hidden cameras with DVR and prove your case in court!

Darren L. Logsdon, 42, of 10550 Township Road 157, East Liberty, was charged with domestic violence and unlawful restraint following an incident at his residence about 2 a.m. Sunday.

Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to his address after receiving a report from a neighbor, who reportedly heard screaming and gunshots coming from the Logsdon residence.

When deputies arrived, they also heard people yelling inside the home. While still outside, deputies reportedly observed Mr. Logsdon holding a woman on a bed in the home, and she was kicking and trying to get free from him.

Deputies made entry into the home, and ordered the defendant to let her go. The woman was identified as Rebecca Mears, 42, of Cable. She said she was not injured, and also denied that there had been any gunshots fired inside the home.

The defendant was taken into custody, and he reportedly displayed signs of intoxication. He was transported to the Logan County Jail.
